Widow of New York State Trooper Sues County

In 2008, Marc Albert Represented the widow of a New York State Trooper accidentally killed by a colleague while serving a warrant for a fugitive.

The widow of a New York State trooper accidentally killed by a colleague during a standoff in April intends to sue the upstate county that handled a warrant for the fugitive who set off the fatal encounter, alleging gross negligence and recklessness, her lawyer said on Friday.

The trooper, David C. Brinkerhoff, 29, of Coxsackie, N.Y., was killed during a shootout in a farmhouse just outside Margaretville, a village in the Catskills. He was there looking for Travis D. Trim, 23, of North Lawrence, N.Y., who was wanted for shooting at another state trooper. Mr. Trim was also killed in the farmhouse shootout.
